Edward Moxon and Co., 1862. First edition. A complete 7 vol set. The first 6 volumes were published in 1862 with volume 7 published in 1863. All volumes are uniformly bound in brown half leather with the boards in marbled paper covered boards. The spines are ornately tooled and decorated in gilt with 5 raised bands and contrasting title labels The leather is rubbed at the extremities and lightly suntanned to the spine. All the bindings are excellent with no signs of weakness at all. The endpapers and edges are all marbled. The contents are very clean and bright with only the odd spot of foxing to the first one or two pages each volume. Each volume has the bookplate to the front pastedown of Joseph Travers Smith, the founder of the major UK law firm that bears his name. This is a really lovely set in what is very likely unread condition. Scans available if required.
